Manually picked in the remote areas of Sahel to respect the surrounding ecosystem, following the spEcifications of Pierre Fabre's Botanical Expertise, dates are delicately de-pulped and hand ground locally. Then kernels are sent to Pierre Fabre Laboratories's extraction unit, "Plantes & Industries" to come up with an extract according to green chemistry principles.
A freshy ovoid green and, when mature, yellow drupe, its fruit, that looks like a date, is highly appreciated by the local population for its nutritive qualities. At the core of this fruit, more precisely in its kernel, the Klorane Laboratories identified a source of active ingrédients that perfectly meet the physiological needs of dry, damaged and brittle hair.
The Desert Date Tree (Balanites aegyptiaca (L.) Delile) is a thomy tree that can be found on the entire Sub-Sahel African belt and more widely from the Senegal/Mauritania shores to Burma. It grows in sub-humid and even arid régions. As most plants in sub-humid environments, this tree has developped a unique adaptation strategy to survive in a hostile environment. This strategy is based on a highly efficient root system that "welds" the tree to the ground during strong sand winds but above all thanks to very deep roots and a highly extended superficial networks, it draws its supplies from the ground up to a 7-meter depth and within a 20-meter range. The presence of tough leaves reduced to the state of thorns also limits water loss.
The Desert Date Tree also has the amazing capacity to optimize the low resources of tis environment to create optimal water and fat supplies and survive up to 2 years without any water. Still perfectly nourished and hydrated, it offers an extraordinarily rich fruit...
